2012 Viognier

2012 Viognier

Tasting Notes

The 2012 Vogelzang Vineyard Viognier jumps from the glass with aromas of white peach, honeydew melon, tangerines, honeysuckle, and orange blossom, with a subtle hint of toasted brioche and baking spices. Full bodied on the palate, with deep stone fruit, tropical notes, and Asian pear. Finished by balanced acidity, this wine dances on your palate for days.

Winemakers Notes

Our 2012 Viognier was picked around 4:00 AM on a cool, late-October morning. The juice was pressed off of the skins immediately upon arriving at the winery, after which, it under went a 24-hour cold settle at around 55º F. The juice was then divided between New French Oak, Neutral French Oak, and a Stainless steel tank for Alcoholic fermentation. After fermentation all lots were racked in to 8 neutral French oak barrels, and one new French Oak puncheon where they aged sur-lie for 10 months.
