2013 Thompson Syrah
A dark ruby colored wine with aromas of cigar and black licorice coupled with roasted dark berries. A full bodied Syrah, but lighter than her 2012 sister, the Thompson Syrah has notes of huckleberry, green pepper, and cinnamon stick. This is the wine you break out for the overdue date to the local steakhouse or a roasted back strap dinner on the patio.
50% whole cluster with 100% Wild Yeast fermentation with no added nutrients, yeasts or other additives. This approach created a soft, approachable style Syrah while still maintaining the fruit forwardness and balanced acidity characteristic of Thompson Vineyard. Aged 18 months in 100% French Oak, 16% of which was new, this Syrah was racked only once before bottling. Typical of Thompson Vineyard this wine should age gracefully over the next 10+ years, but will drink beautifully out of a decanter right away.
