2014 White Hawk Vineyard Viognier

2014 White Hawk Vineyard Viognier

Tasting Notes

The nose exhibits beautiful stone fruit aromas along with tropical notes of pineapple and coconut.  The first impression on the palate is citrus with subtleties of vanilla, followed by lychee fruit, and caramelized apple.  Feel free to let this wine breathe a little and serve around 45-50º.  Our 2014 Whitehawk Viognier should drink great for the next 3-5 years.

Winemakers Notes

Whitehawk Vineyard is truly a dynamic site.  The Viognier grows on the south-facing “roasted slope” but is cooled by the transverse canyon that runs east to west in the cool climate of Los Alamos.

This Viognier was fermented and aged in concrete tanks and 500 liter new French Oak puncheons.  We stirred the lees daily during fermentation to achieve the creamy mouth feel we love in Viognier, and racked just once before bottling.
